Description
UNTS brought me in to shoot an aftermovie for OffGrid, an urban sports event bringing together 3x3 basketball, BMX, urban dance, skateboarding, and hip hop concerts under one roof.
The challenge wasn't any single discipline, it was all of them at once. Each one moves differently: basketball is quick, tight exchanges in a small space, BMX and skateboarding are about height, air, and the split second a trick lands or doesn't, dance is rhythm and precision, and the concerts brought a completely different energy again, more about crowd and atmosphere than technical action. Capturing all of it meant constantly resetting, not just the camera settings but the way of thinking about each scene.
What ties an event like this together isn't the sports themselves, it's the culture around them. Urban sports carry their own identity, their own crowd, their own energy, and an aftermovie needs to reflect that as much as it reflects what happened on the court, the ramp, or the stage.
The result is a movie that moves the way the event did: fast, varied, and never sitting still for long.
